Algerian Banks Open Branches on Saturdays to Expand Access to Financial Services
Several public banks have introduced Saturday opening hours under a new standby system aimed at improving customer access, streamlining transactions and strengthening financial inclusion.

Several Algerian banks have announced the opening of their branches every Saturday as part of a new permanence system designed to facilitate citizens’ access to banking services and improve the efficiency of financial transactions.
The measure, which takes effect from Saturday, is intended to enhance the availability of banking services, ease administrative procedures for customers and ensure greater continuity in the operations of financial institutions across the country.
The initiative involves several major banks, including Algeria Popular Credit Bank (CPA), National Bank of Algeria (BNA), Local Development Bank (BDL) and CNEP Bank, which will open selected branches nationwide every Saturday.
Improving Banking Accessibility
Under the new arrangement, branches will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while opening hours in southern provinces will run from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., according to the banks’ announcements.
The participating institutions said the measure reflects their commitment to improving customer reception, expanding access to financial services and providing greater flexibility for citizens carrying out banking procedures.
The move follows a call by the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF) urging banks to adopt the necessary organisational measures to ensure continuity and quality of services provided to customers.
