Air Algérie Receives Boeing 737 MAX 8 and ATR 72-600 as Part of Fleet Renewal Strategy
The Algerian flag carrier has taken delivery of two new aircraft and inaugurated a large-scale catering facility as part of efforts to modernise its operations and strengthen its service capacity.

Air Algérie has received a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 as part of its fleet renewal programme, which includes the acquisition of 10 aircraft in the same medium-range, single-aisle category.
The newly delivered aircraft, named “El Houria”, joins the national carrier’s fleet as Algeria marks the 64th anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty.
The company has also taken delivery of an ATR 72-600, named “Tassili”, for its subsidiary Domestic Airlines, as part of a broader plan to expand its regional aviation capabilities. Overall, Air Algérie is expected to acquire 16 aircraft of the same type.
Expanding Operational Capacity
Alongside the fleet expansion, Air Algérie inaugurated its new production centre, “Air Taste Factory”, a dedicated facility designed to enhance the airline’s catering operations.
Located on an area of 14,250 square metres, the new unit has the capacity to produce up to 40,000 meals per day, strengthening the company’s ability to meet the needs of its expanding passenger network.
The inauguration ceremony and aircraft reception were attended by Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Saïd Sayoud, who oversaw the official launch of the new facilities and the delivery of the aircraft.
The latest acquisitions form part of Algeria’s broader strategy to modernise its national carrier, improve domestic and international connectivity, and reinforce the operational infrastructure supporting the country’s aviation sector.
