ALGIERS — Algeria and Angola signed on Monday a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding covering energy, investment, transport, education and industrial cooperation, marking what both sides described as a renewed momentum in bilateral relations.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Angolan President João Lourenço co-chaired the signing ceremony held at the Algerian presidency following bilateral talks as part of Lourenço’s state visit to Algiers.
The agreements include cooperation in oil and gas, a memorandum between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and Angola’s investment and export promotion authority, as well as accords in vocational training, water resources management, higher education, scientific research, technological innovation and pharmaceuticals.
Additional agreements cover postal and telecommunications services, air transport, mining, diplomatic training cooperation between respective diplomatic academies, and veterinary health cooperation between agriculture and health institutions.
Both sides also signed understandings aimed at strengthening industrial and technical collaboration, particularly in strategic sectors where Algeria has developed operational expertise.
The agreements were concluded in the presence of senior officials from both countries, underscoring the institutional breadth of the partnership.
Officials said the package reflects a broader effort to expand South-South cooperation, with Algeria positioning its experience in hydrocarbons, water management, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and technical training as part of structured cooperation frameworks with African partners.
The initiative is framed within a policy of partnership based on shared expertise, capacity-building and economic complementarity, with both countries seeking to strengthen long-term institutional and economic ties.
