Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated USM Alger following the club’s victory in the CAF Confederation Cup after a dramatic final against Zamalek SC at Cairo International Stadium.
In a message published after the match, Tebboune praised the Algerian side for securing the continental title “deservedly and with merit,” describing the achievement as a historic honour for Algeria as a whole.
“Congratulations to USM Alger, the champions, for winning the CAF Confederation Cup deservedly at Cairo International Stadium,” the president stated, commending the players, technical staff and supporters for what he described as a major accomplishment for Algerian football.
USM Alger secured the title after defeating Zamalek SC in a tense penalty shootout 8-7 following a 1-0 second-leg result. The Algerian club had already won the first leg by the same scoreline, confirming its continental superiority after a strong campaign throughout the competition.
