Algeria, Bosnia Deepen Energy Cooperation with Focus on Industrial Integration
By Dr. Hana Saada
Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, held talks in Algiers on Monday with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister, Elmedin Konaković, as both sides moved to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting, attended by the Algerian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and senior officials from both delegations, reviewed the state of relations and reaffirmed the depth of longstanding ties between the two countries. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to advancing their partnership, with hydrocarbons identified as a central pillar.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in oil and gas through the exploration of investment opportunities and partnerships across the sector. Particular emphasis was placed on boosting trade exchanges, notably in natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The talks also addressed the development of industrial cooperation along the hydrocarbons value chain, especially between companies involved in the manufacture of equipment and installations, with the aim of strengthening industrial capacity and enhancing local integration.
Both sides underscored the importance of technology transfer, expertise exchange and the development of training programmes to build human capital in line with global transformations in the energy sector.
For his part, the Bosnian foreign minister expressed his country’s interest in deepening cooperation with Algeria in hydrocarbons, reaffirming Sarajevo’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral economic partnership.
