Algeria, Mali Move to Revive Bilateral Cooperation and Strengthen Good-Neighbourly Ties

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and his Malian counterpart, General Abdoulaye Maïga, discussed relaunching bilateral cooperation and giving fresh momentum to relations, while reaffirming their commitment to fraternity, solidarity and good-neighbourly ties.

ALGIERS — Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb held a telephone conversation with his Malian counterpart, General Abdoulaye Maïga, on Sunday as Algiers and Bamako seek to give renewed momentum to bilateral relations and revive cooperation across multiple sectors.

The call took place on the instructions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the exchange, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to the ties of fraternity, solidarity and good neighbourliness linking the two peoples, while expressing the willingness of their respective leaderships to inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations and restart cooperation in a range of fields.

As part of the diplomatic push, Ghrieb extended an official invitation to his Malian counterpart to pay a working visit to Algeria.

The two prime ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, according to the statement.

They expressed a shared ambition to strengthen the Sahel’s role as a space for cooperation, economic exchange and shared development, grounded in security and stability.
