Algeria, Oman sign transport deals covering ports, airports and digital cooperation

Algeria and Oman signed a series of transport cooperation agreements on Monday in Algiers, expanding ties across maritime, aviation and digital infrastructure, following a high-level working session co-chaired by Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Minister Saïd Sayoud and Omani Transport Minister Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali.

The meeting brought together senior officials from both sides and focused on enhancing coordination across transport modes and expanding technical exchanges.

The agreements include a memorandum between Algeria’s Serport group and Oman’s Asyad Group on cooperation in port management and services, as well as a second accord between Algiers’ Houari Boumediene Airport operator and Oman Airports to develop ground-handling services and improve operational efficiency.

The two countries also adopted an executive programme covering wider transport cooperation, reinforcing what both sides described as a commitment to deepen bilateral coordination.

Sayoud said Algeria was ready to expand cooperation across the sector, while Al Maawali highlighted the quality of organisation and reception during the visit.

High Commissioner for Digitisation Meriem Benmouloud also signalled Algeria’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Oman in digital transformation, particularly in modernising public service systems and management tools.
