Algeria opens applications for President’s Best Start-up Award

Entrepreneurs and innovators have until August 23 to apply for the inaugural competition, which offers cash prizes of up to 3 million dinars for outstanding start-ups, scale-ups and innovative projects.

ALGIERS — Algeria has opened applications for the inaugural President of the Republic’s Best Start-up Award, with submissions accepted until August 23, as part of efforts to promote innovation and support the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises announced the launch of the first edition of the national competition on Friday, inviting applications from innovative project developers, high-performing start-ups and promising scale-ups.

Applicants can submit their entries through the dedicated digital platform, startupoftheyear.dz, where participation requirements, evaluation criteria and competition guidelines are available.

Projects will be assessed by an independent jury comprising technology and innovation experts from Algeria and abroad.

The competition offers financial awards of 3 million Algerian dinars for the best scale-up, 2 million dinars for the best start-up and 1 million dinars for the best innovative project.

The initiative forms part of Algeria’s broader strategy to encourage entrepreneurship, foster technological innovation and accelerate the growth of high-potential businesses.
