Algeria’s ENAP launches fire-resistant coating to strengthen domestic industrial materials
The state-owned paint manufacturer introduces a new fire-retardant coating designed for steel, concrete and wood as Algeria seeks to expand local industrial production, improve fire safety standards and reduce reliance on imported specialised materials.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s National Paint Company (ENAP) has launched a new fire-resistant coating, branded IGNIFUGE, marking the latest addition to its portfolio of specialised industrial products as the state-owned manufacturer seeks to strengthen domestic production of high-value construction materials.
The product, developed by ENAP—part of the state-owned ACS Group—has been engineered in line with modern technical standards and is designed to provide enhanced protection against fire across a wide range of applications.
According to the company, the coating can be applied to steel structures, walls, various construction surfaces and wood, where it forms an insulating layer that helps slow the spread of flames, improving fire protection in industrial, commercial, administrative and residential buildings. The launch comes as Algeria experiences heightened wildfire and fire-related risks during the summer season.
ENAP said the introduction of IGNIFUGE forms part of its broader strategy to expand the domestic production of specialised, value-added industrial materials while reducing dependence on imported products. The initiative also reflects the company’s continued focus on innovation, research and product development to meet evolving market requirements.
One of Algeria’s largest public manufacturers of paints and coatings, ENAP has steadily expanded its product range in recent years as part of wider government efforts to develop local industrial capabilities and strengthen national manufacturing capacity.
