Sonelgaz restores high-voltage transmission line in eastern Algiers after rapid repair operation
Algeria’s state-owned electricity and gas utility completed emergency repairs on a 60-kilovolt transmission line linking Aïn Taya and El Hamiz in a six-hour operation aimed at reinforcing network reliability and improving power supply continuity.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s state-owned utility Sonelgaz has completed emergency repairs to a technical fault affecting a 60-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage transmission line linking Aïn Taya and El Hamiz in eastern Algiers, restoring normal operations after what the company described as a rapid intervention.
The repair work was carried out on Friday at the Aïn Taya main power substation, where Sonelgaz’s technical teams conducted the operation between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to restore the line to service as quickly as possible.
The intervention, classified as both urgent and a priority, was undertaken to address the technical malfunction and strengthen the reliability of the electricity transmission network.
Sonelgaz said the completed works would enhance the quality of electricity supply, improve grid stability and ensure greater continuity of service for consumers.
