Algerian Interior Minister Saïd Sayoud and Spanish Ambassador Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller reviewed avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation, with discussions focusing on transport, security cooperation, road safety and broader strategic partnership.

ALGIERS, Algeria — Algeria and Spain have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation following talks between Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Minister Saïd Sayoud and Spanish Ambassador to Algeria Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller.

The meeting, held Monday at the ministry’s headquarters at the ambassador’s request, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, according to an official statement.

Expanding bilateral cooperation

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation across the transport sector, covering all modes of transportation, while also addressing security cooperation and road safety.

The two sides also explored opportunities to broaden bilateral partnership and identify new areas of collaboration capable of advancing the shared interests of both countries.

Strengthening strategic partnership

During the meeting, Minister Sayoud reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Spain, describing the country as a friendly partner and stressing Algeria’s determination to further develop bilateral relations on the basis of mutual benefit.

He highlighted the importance of expanding professional training, promoting the exchange of expertise and drawing on successful experiences in areas of common interest.

Shared commitment to deeper ties

Both parties welcomed the positive level of cooperation already established between Algeria and Spain and reiterated their common determination to elevate bilateral relations to a broader strategic level.

The meeting reflects the renewed momentum in Algerian-Spanish relations, with both governments seeking to expand practical cooperation in transport, security and other sectors while strengthening long-term institutional partnerships.
