Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb held talks on Monday with his Tunisian counterpart Sara Zaafrani Zenzri, thanking Tunisian authorities for their swift intervention and medical care following a road accident involving Algerian nationals.

Speaking on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr Ghrieb commended the rapid response to the May 1 incident, when an Algerian tourist bus skidded in the Medjez el-Bab region, leaving several injured. He highlighted the efficiency of evacuation and treatment operations, carried out in close coordination with Algerian authorities and in line with presidential instructions.

Mr Ghrieb asked that his thanks and greetings be conveyed to Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed, citing the solidarity shown as a reflection of longstanding ties between the two countries.

Ms Zaafrani Zenzri said Tunisia’s response formed part of a duty of solidarity underpinning bilateral relations, and reaffirmed her government’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Algeria. She also relayed President Saïed’s greetings to President Tebboune.
