ALGIERS — Algeria will inaugurate and commission a series of major road infrastructure projects across several provinces to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the country’s Independence Day, as part of an ongoing national strategy aimed at strengthening transport connectivity, modernising road networks and supporting regional economic development.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, the commemorative programme will include the delivery of numerous road expansion, rehabilitation and bridge construction projects, alongside the launch of additional infrastructure works in several regions of the country.

The ministry said the projects form part of broader government efforts to improve transport conditions, reinforce national infrastructure and facilitate socio-economic development through enhanced regional connectivity.

In the southern province of Ghardaïa, authorities will inaugurate a 10-kilometre dual carriageway section of National Road (RN1), together with the opening of the city’s new northern access road, which includes the construction of a new bridge designed to improve urban mobility.

In Mila, officials will commission the 10.4-kilometre dual carriageway linking the provincial capital with the East-West Motorway, while also completing rehabilitation and maintenance works along two sections of Provincial Road (CW2) extending over eight kilometres.

The ministry also announced the opening of a new four-kilometre section of the RN1 dual carriageway connecting Djelfa with Hassi Bahbah, representing another stage in the progressive modernisation of one of Algeria’s principal north-south transport corridors.

In In Salah, authorities will receive completed reinforcement works covering nine kilometres of National Road (RN52), together with maintenance operations on approximately 9.4 kilometres of Provincial Road (CW143), further improving transport infrastructure across the country’s southern regions.

Meanwhile, the eastern province of Constantine will witness the commissioning of several major projects, including the dualisation and modernisation of a 16-kilometre section of National Road (RN79), the completion of an 18.4-kilometre expansion of National Road (RN27) linking Constantine with the border of Mila Province, and the upgrading of National Road (RN3) between El Guerrah and the provincial boundary with Oum El Bouaghi.

In Biskra, three strategic road rehabilitation projects will enter service. These include the reinforcement of an 18-kilometre section of National Road (RN121) between Zeribet El Oued and El Feidh, the strengthening of an 11-kilometre segment of National Road (RN46) serving the municipalities of M’lili and Oumache, and rehabilitation works covering a five-kilometre stretch of National Road (RN3) in both traffic directions.

The Ministry of Public Works stated that the projects form part of Algeria’s long-term infrastructure development strategy aimed at modernising the national transport network, improving road safety and mobility, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and supporting balanced socio-economic growth across the country’s various regions.

The inauguration of these projects during the Independence Day celebrations also reflects the government’s continued investment in transport infrastructure as a key pillar of national development and regional integration, reinforcing connectivity between major urban centres while improving access to remote areas throughout Algeria.
