Algeria’s Election Authority Urges Strict Compliance with Voting Rules Ahead of Legislative Poll

ALGIERS — Algeria’s National Independent Election Authority (ANIE) on Wednesday called on polling officials, candidates and their representatives to strictly observe the legal and ethical standards governing Thursday’s legislative elections, emphasising the principles of neutrality, transparency and integrity throughout the electoral process.
In a statement issued on the eve of the 2 July parliamentary vote, the authority urged officials assigned to polling stations and voting centres to discharge their responsibilities with impartiality, professionalism and integrity while ensuring full compliance with the legal framework regulating election procedures.
ANIE stressed that election personnel must refrain from any action or conduct that could undermine the transparency, credibility or integrity of the voting process, underscoring the importance of preserving public confidence in the administration of the elections.
The authority also called on all candidates contesting seats in the People’s National Assembly (APN), together with their accredited representatives, to fully comply with the legal and regulatory provisions governing polling day activities.
According to the statement, adherence to these rules is essential to ensuring the orderly conduct of the elections, safeguarding the transparency of the electoral process and reinforcing citizens’ confidence in the integrity of Algeria’s democratic institutions.
