Algerian Military Security Receives German National Abducted in Niger
Algeria’s Military Security received German national Ulumaskan Sinan after he was abducted by an armed criminal group in Niger, with the Defense Ministry saying he was in good health and would subsequently be handed over to German authorities.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s Military Security services on Friday received German national Ulumaskan Sinan, who had been abducted by an armed criminal group while in Niger, the Ministry of National Defence said Saturday.
According to a ministry statement, Sinan was transferred on a special flight from the In Guezzam Secondary Deployment Base in Algeria’s 6th Military Region to the Boufarik Military Base in the 1st Military Region.
The ministry said the German national was in good health and would subsequently be handed over to the German authorities.
In statements following his arrival, Sinan recounted the circumstances surrounding his abduction and detention, which lasted approximately two weeks.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Algerian military authorities for the reception and care he received, while thanking the country’s senior authorities for the efforts that enabled his safe return, according to the Defense Ministry.
Sinan specifically conveyed his gratitude to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who also serves as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence.
The handover comes after the German national’s detention in Niger and his subsequent transfer to Algeria, where Algerian authorities facilitated arrangements for his eventual return to Germany.
