ALGIERS, June 17 — The Algerian Red Crescent marked World Blood Donor Day on 14 June 2026 with a nationwide blood donation campaign organised across multiple wilayas, under the supervision of its medical committee.
The initiative aimed to support national healthcare facilities by strengthening blood supply stocks and promoting voluntary and regular donation practices, according to an official statement.
The campaign covered a wide geographic scope, including Adrar, Chlef, Laghouat, Batna, Biskra, Béchar, Tlemcen, Tiaret, Tizi Ouzou, Jijel, Sétif, Saïda, Skikda, Médéa, El Bayadh, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Boumerdès, Khenchela, Mila, Aïn Defla, Aïn Témouchent, Ghardaïa, and Béni Abbès.
In Algiers, the programme included a donation drive at the “Tafoura – Grande Poste” metro station, contributing to high public visibility of the initiative in the capital.
The Red Crescent said the operation reflects its humanitarian and solidarity mandate, while reinforcing a culture of voluntary donation as a key component of national health resilience.
