Algeria’s Legislative Campaign on Third Day as Party Leaders Outline Governance, Representation and Development Priorities

ALGIERS — Algeria’s campaign for the 2 July legislative elections entered its third day with political party leaders and campaign representatives intensifying outreach efforts across several provinces, presenting their respective visions for parliamentary representation, governance reform, institutional strengthening and national development.

Campaign activities reflected the diversity of political platforms competing for seats in the next People’s National Assembly (APN), while underscoring broad themes related to democratic participation, institutional effectiveness, economic development and national sovereignty.

Speaking in Tlemcen, Monder Bouden, Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), described the current electoral framework as an important step toward strengthening transparency in political life and promoting equal opportunities among electoral participants. He argued that the existing legal framework contributes to improving confidence in the electoral process and reinforcing democratic competition.

In Algiers, First National Secretary of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), Youcef Aouchiche, called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, stressing that closer engagement with citizens at the neighbourhood level would enable the party to better respond to public expectations and strengthen its political standing.

From Médéa, El Mostakbel Front President Fateh Boutbig emphasised the need for a more proactive legislature, arguing that the next parliament should evolve into a genuine force of proposal capable of initiating measures that serve both national interests and societal needs.

El Bina El Watani Movement leader Abdelkader Bengrina, campaigning in Boumerdès, reaffirmed his party’s commitment to what he described as fair political competition. He expressed confidence that the movement could improve upon its previous electoral performance and secure a larger parliamentary presence.

Meanwhile, in Adrar, Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) President Abdelaali Hassani Cherif highlighted his party’s programme as a framework designed to strengthen confidence in national institutions and in Algeria’s domestic capabilities, while reinforcing national sovereignty.

Addressing supporters in Skikda, Ennahda Movement Secretary-General Mohamed Douibi stressed the importance of electing qualified representatives capable of enhancing parliamentary performance. He argued that effective deputies should serve as a vital link between citizens and public authorities by conveying and defending constituents’ concerns within legislative institutions.

In Bouira, Mohamed Daoui, President of El Karama Party, called for strong voter participation in the upcoming elections, presenting electoral engagement as a means of supporting the development trajectory pursued by public authorities in recent years.

For his part, Lamine Osmani, President of the People’s Voice Party, speaking in Algiers, reiterated his party’s commitment to participating in all political processes. He argued that the objective of building a strong Algeria with robust institutions requires the emergence of a capable and influential political class.

In Batna, Fatima-Zohra Zerouati, President of the Algerian Hope Rally (TAJ), stated that her party’s primary objective is to contribute to the success of the electoral process and to the formation of a strong National People’s Assembly capable of meeting the aspirations of the country and supporting Algeria’s future development.

As campaigning continues nationwide, party leaders are seeking to persuade voters through competing visions for parliamentary action, institutional reform and economic development ahead of the 2 July vote, which will determine the composition of Algeria’s next legislature.
