LONDON — Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari met members of the Algerian diaspora in the United Kingdom on Saturday during a gathering held at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.

The meeting brought together Algerian students, academics and researchers based in the United Kingdom, providing an opportunity to discuss ways of strengthening ties between Algerian talent abroad and national development initiatives.

During the exchange, Baddari underscored the importance of involving Algerian nationals living overseas in projects linked to their country of origin, emphasizing the valuable contribution that highly skilled members of the diaspora can make to local development, innovation and knowledge transfer.

Addressing students attending the event, the minister outlined mechanisms available to support the transformation of academic ideas and research initiatives into concrete projects, highlighting ongoing efforts to encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and scientific creativity among young Algerians.

The discussions also focused on the role of higher education, research cooperation and the mobilisation of Algerian expertise abroad in support of the country’s economic and scientific ambitions.

The meeting took place in the presence of the Rector of Djamaâ El Djazaïr, Cheikh Mohamed Maâmoun Al Kacimi Al Hassani, and Algeria’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, reflecting the authorities’ continued engagement with members of the national community residing overseas.

The gathering formed part of a broader programme accompanying the official Algerian delegation’s visit to the United Kingdom, which included academic and cultural engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation between Algerian and British institutions.
