BY Dr. Hana Saada
ADRAR — Algeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene, conducted a working visit on Monday to the southern province of Adrar to assess the state of the healthcare sector and review the progress of ongoing health infrastructure projects.
The visit programme included the laying of the foundation stone for a new polyclinic in Timadnine, a locality within the commune of Reggane, as part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services in remote regions.
The minister also inspected construction work on a new 60-bed hospital in Zaouiet Kounta, a project intended to expand regional hospital capacity and improve access to specialised care.
In Adrar city, Professor Aït Messaoudene oversaw rehabilitation works at the medico-surgical emergency department of Ibn Sina Hospital, alongside the development of a new public healthcare establishment aimed at enhancing proximity medical services for local residents.
The inspection tour further included visits to the Chahid Boudghouma Abdelkrim Public Hospital, with a capacity of 120 beds, as well as the 240-bed mixed hospital facility, where the minister evaluated operational conditions and service delivery performance.
According to the ministry, the visit forms part of a broader national strategy to modernise healthcare infrastructure, improve patient care standards, and address regional disparities in medical services across the country.
