ONEC urges strong turnout in Algeria’s July 2 legislative elections

BY Dr. Hana Saada

Algeria’s National Organisation of Children of Martyrs (ONEC) has called for broad participation in the legislative elections scheduled for July 2, stressing their importance for institutional consolidation and democratic practice.

In a statement issued after a meeting of its provincial secretaries-general held in Algiers on April 21–22, the organisation said the vote represents a key step in strengthening constitutional institutions and ensuring effective popular representation. It urged citizens to participate widely to ensure the success of the electoral process.

ONEC also reaffirmed its full support for the programme of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at building a “new Algeria” based on social justice, good governance, sustainable development and strengthened citizenship. It emphasised the need to consolidate the rule of law, reinforce national stability and address ongoing challenges.

The organisation reiterated its commitment to the values of the war of liberation and its continued attachment to the legacy and pledge of the martyrs.
