BY Dr. Hana Saada

Tunisian President Kais Saied visited the Algeria pavilion during the 40th edition of the Tunis International Book Fair, held from 23 April to 3 May 2026.

According to a statement from Algeria’s Ministry of Culture and Arts, the president reviewed a selection of publications and examined works by prominent Algerian cultural and historical figures. The visit also highlighted key artistic and historical references reflecting bilateral ties between Algeria and Tunisia.

The visit was described as an occasion underscoring the depth of relations between the two countries and concluded with the presentation of a symbolic gift reflecting cultural proximity between the two peoples.

The Algerian pavilion will also host a parallel programme including intellectual panels, literary evenings and poetry sessions throughout the fair.

Covering 60 square metres, the pavilion brings together 39 public and private publishing houses, presenting 625 titles (3,188 copies) spanning literature, history and thought. A further 92 titles have been donated to the Algerian embassy in Tunis, the statement added.
