Police Operation in Khemis El Khechna Dismantles Drug Network and Seizes Nearly 40kg of Cannabis

A police operation in Khemis El Khechna, in the wilaya of Boumerdes, has led to the dismantling of a criminal network and the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics, according to a statement issued by local security authorities.
Judicial police units attached to the urban security division intercepted nearly 40 kilograms of processed cannabis, alongside smaller quantities of cocaine, following a targeted investigation into organised trafficking activities.
Three individuals, all with prior criminal records, were arrested and identified as members of a structured network involved in the distribution of illicit substances, targeting youth environments.
The operation was initiated on the basis of confirmed intelligence pointing to suspicious movements linked to an organised group attempting to circulate significant volumes of narcotics. Subsequent field investigations enabled law enforcement services to dismantle the network’s operational structure within a compressed timeframe.
Seizures included 39.82 kilograms of processed cannabis, two passenger vehicles used for transport, and financial proceeds believed to stem from illicit trafficking, amounting to 3.99 million dinars and 600 euros. A banknote-counting machine was also recovered.
The suspects have been referred to the public prosecutor at the Khemis El Khechna tribunal, with judicial proceedings ongoing.
The operation forms part of broader efforts by Algerian security services to disrupt organised trafficking networks and curb the circulation of narcotics, particularly within vulnerable social environments.
