Algeria, Chad sign strategic health cooperation agreement to boost epidemiological surveillance

Algeria and Chad have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the health sector, aimed at strengthening bilateral coordination during the official visit of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno to Algiers.
The accord was signed on Thursday by Algerian Health Minister Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene and his Chadian counterpart Abdelmadjid Abderahim Mahamat, according to a statement from the Algerian health ministry. It is intended to reinforce long-standing historical and fraternal ties between the two countries.
The agreement focuses on information-sharing and technical cooperation in the prevention and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, with particular emphasis on cross-border epidemiological surveillance.
It also provides for capacity-building across medical, surgical and paramedical fields, alongside hospital and administrative management, and the promotion of professional best practices in healthcare delivery.
Authorities said the accord marks a step forward in consolidating health cooperation and establishing a framework for deeper coordination, with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare services in both countries.
