Imported sheep shipment docks in Algiers port ahead of Eid al-Adha demand

A cargo vessel carrying a substantial consignment of imported sheep docked at Algiers port on Thursday, as authorities move to bolster supply ahead of Eid al-Adha.
According to port operator EPAL, the shipment forms part of state efforts to ensure adequate availability of sacrificial livestock and stabilise the domestic market, in line with presidential directives.
The operation was conducted under organisational measures set by the interior ministry to secure handling conditions. Port authorities deployed the necessary personnel and logistics to oversee unloading in accordance with established standards.
Veterinary services initiated immediate health inspections to verify compliance with import requirements and ensure the safety of the livestock.
The delivery underscores a coordinated approach to pre-empt seasonal demand pressures and maintain market stability.
