ALGIERS- Major General Mahfoud Benmeddah, Commander of the Naval Forces, conducted an inspection of the El Fath-921 corvette on Thursday at the northern dock of the Algiers Naval Base/1st military region. This inspection was carried out in preparation for the corvette’s participation in the upcoming multilateral exercise, Phoenix Express-23. The exercise is scheduled to take place from November 5 to 18, 2023, along the Tunisian coast, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of National Defense.
Phoenix Express-23 is a significant multinational event that aims to foster joint cooperation among participating countries’ navies in the areas of maritime surveillance and security. Thirteen nations will be taking part in this exercise, which will primarily focus on regional collaboration, enhancing maritime domain awareness, information sharing, and operational capabilities. The ultimate goal is to strengthen safety and security in the Mediterranean Sea and the territorial waters of the participating nations.
