NOUAKCHOTT — The 8th edition of the Algerian Products and Services Fair in Nouakchott wrapped up on Monday with the signing of 70 agreements spanning trade, transport, exports, healthcare, innovation and tourism, underscoring Algeria’s accelerating commercial push into West Africa and the strengthening of Algerian-Mauritanian economic integration.

The week-long event, held from May 5-11, generated what Algeria’s Ministry of External Trade and Export Promotion described as “significant economic and commercial outcomes,” aimed at boosting non-hydrocarbon exports and consolidating Algeria’s footprint in the Mauritanian market.

Among the headline agreements was a $50 million deal covering the export and shipment of 500,000 tonnes of Algerian cement to Mauritania. The arrangement involves Air Algérie Cargo, subsidiaries of the Algerian Maritime Transport Group and an Algerian freight shipping operator, reflecting Algeria’s expanding logistics and export capabilities.

The final day alone produced 18 agreements in trade, transport and export-related sectors.

In healthcare, Algerian and Mauritanian operators signed partnerships focused on medical tourism and healthcare cooperation, including the treatment of Mauritanian patients in Algerian hospitals and the expansion of cross-border medical services.

The agreements also extended to innovation and agri-tech, with Algerian start-ups entering partnerships designed to develop smart agricultural solutions, deepen technical cooperation and facilitate expertise-sharing between the two countries.

Tourism operators from both sides additionally concluded an accord aimed at strengthening tourism promotion and unlocking new investment and partnership opportunities between Algeria and Mauritania.
