N’Djamena — The vision of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in favour of African integration has been welcomed in Chad, according to a statement and remarks delivered during an official engagement in the capital.

Chadian Minister of Infrastructure, Territorial Development and Road Maintenance Amir Idriss Kourda praised President Tebboune’s strategic vision aimed at strengthening African integration and advancing major structural projects, notably the Trans-Saharan Highway.

He made the remarks during a dinner held in honour of the Algerian delegation visiting Chad to examine the implementation of two sections of the Trans-Saharan Highway on Chadian territory and review mechanisms for executing recently signed bilateral agreements, according to a statement from Algeria’s Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.

The Algerian delegation is led by Public Works Minister Abdelkader Djellaoui, accompanied by Abed Hallouz, Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development.

Kourda underlined the strategic importance of the Trans-Saharan Highway as a key lever for economic development and enhanced connectivity between African states.

The dinner was attended by members of the Chadian government, Algeria’s ambassador to Chad, as well as Algerian experts and engineers currently carrying out a technical mission related to preparations for the construction of the two highway segments.

Earlier in the day, Djellaoui held talks with Kourda focusing on technical and logistical aspects of the project and the implementation of cooperation agreements in public works and infrastructure, in the presence of executives from Cosider Public Works and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).

He also met several Chadian ministers covering higher education, vocational training, agricultural production and industrialisation, public health, and transport and communications.
