El Djeïch Says Algeria’s Progress Reflects National Unity and Capacity to Meet Challenges

In its latest editorial, El Djeïch says the consolidation of the “New Algeria” is rooted in the legacy of the War of Independence and the values of sacrifice, unity and national cohesion, while highlighting Algerians’ ability to overcome challenges and achieve ambitious national objectives.

Algeria’s military magazine El Djeïch has said the country’s recent achievements and development efforts reflect the enduring values of the War of Independence, arguing that the foundations of the “New Algeria” continue to be shaped by sacrifice, national unity and social cohesion.

In the editorial of its latest issue, titled “Sincere National Resolve Faithful to the Oath of the Glorious Martyrs,” the publication marks the 64th anniversary of Algeria’s independence, describing 5 July 1962 as a historic milestone that secured national sovereignty after a long struggle against French colonial rule.

The editorial states that Algeria’s independence represented the triumph of the people’s determination following one of the twentieth century’s greatest liberation wars, adding that the legacy of the revolution continues to inspire successive generations.

According to the publication, the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence remain a reminder of the responsibility to preserve national sovereignty and remain faithful to the principles for which Algeria’s martyrs fought.

Development, Sovereignty and National Mobilisation

The magazine says the country’s political, economic and social achievements in recent years reflect a long-term national vision centred on strengthening sovereignty, investing in domestic capabilities and improving strategic sectors, including infrastructure, food security, water security, energy and digital development.

It argues that these efforts are aimed at reinforcing Algeria’s resilience in the face of regional and international challenges while laying the foundations for sustainable economic growth.

The editorial also states that, despite just over six decades having passed since independence, Algeria’s recent progress demonstrates the ability of Algerians “to accomplish miracles, overcome every challenge and succeed in meeting different national objectives.”

El Djeïch further cites President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s Independence Day message, in which he said the spirit of the “New Algeria” is founded on fidelity to the country’s martyrs and expressed confidence in the nation’s ability to continue its path of reform, sustainable development and economic transformation.

The publication maintains that the same values of sacrifice, resistance, solidarity and national cohesion that underpinned the liberation struggle continue to guide efforts to consolidate the country’s institutions and strengthen national sovereignty.

It also stresses that safeguarding Algeria’s independence requires the mobilisation of all citizens and national institutions, describing the strengthening of sovereignty and national development as a collective responsibility.

The editorial reiterates that the People’s National Army (ANP) continues to fulfil its constitutional missions of protecting Algeria’s territorial integrity and preserving national stability, describing security and stability as essential prerequisites for development.

El Djeïch also quotes Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, who said the anniversary of independence remains a source of inspiration for the armed forces as they continue carrying out their constitutional duties under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The editorial concludes by paying tribute to Algeria’s martyrs, veterans of the War of Independence, members of the People’s National Army and the country’s various security services, recognising their role in safeguarding the nation’s stability and sovereignty.
