Ghrieb, Sayoud Monitor Medical Care for Victims of Deadly Boumerdes Bus Crash

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visited survivors of the deadly Boumerdes bus crash in hospital on Friday alongside Interior Minister Saïd Sayoud, who announced the transfer of several critically injured patients to Algiers hospitals for specialised treatment as the death toll rose to 25.

BOUMERDES – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visited injured survivors of Friday’s devastating bus accident in Boumerdes to assess their condition and review the medical care being provided, following one of Algeria’s deadliest road accidents in recent years.

The Prime Minister toured the hospital treating victims after a passenger bus overturned and plunged into a ravine near the Berrahmoun El-Karma bypass on the outskirts of Boumerdes district.

According to the latest provisional figures released by the Civil Protection services, the accident claimed 25 lives and left 44 people injured.

Accompanying the Prime Minister, Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Minister Saïd Sayoud announced that several of the injured had been transferred to specialised hospitals in Algiers to ensure they receive advanced medical treatment.

He said a number of victims would be admitted to Mustapha Pacha University Hospital and Salim Zemirli Hospital, where medical teams have been mobilised to provide comprehensive care according to the severity of their injuries.
