CNAS Expands Chifa Card Update Service to Contracted Pharmacies Nationwide
Algeria’s National Social Insurance Fund (CNAS) has expanded access to Chifa card services by allowing insured persons to update their beneficiaries’ cards directly through contracted pharmacies across the country, eliminating the need to visit payment centres as part of its broader digitalisation and public service modernisation strategy.

ALGIERS – Algeria’s National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS) has announced that insured persons can now update the Chifa health insurance cards of their beneficiaries directly at contracted pharmacies nationwide, eliminating the need to travel to CNAS payment centres.
The measure, announced on Friday, forms part of the fund’s ongoing programme to modernise public services, expand digital healthcare solutions and improve access to social security services for citizens.
According to CNAS, the new service is designed to simplify administrative procedures by bringing essential services closer to beneficiaries through the country’s network of accredited pharmacies, while significantly reducing travel and waiting times for users.
The initiative also supports the broader digital transformation of Algeria’s social security system by decentralising routine administrative services and improving the efficiency of healthcare access for insured persons and their dependants.
CNAS said the reform reflects its commitment to delivering more accessible, citizen-centred public services while continuing efforts to streamline administrative procedures and strengthen the quality of social security services nationwide.
