Algerian authorities have designated two government-run youth centres in Boumerdes province to provide temporary accommodation for the families of those affected by Friday’s deadly bus crash, as part of emergency measures aimed at supporting relatives and ensuring they remain close to hospitals treating the injured.
According to the Ministry of Youth, the government youth centres located in the municipalities of Corso and El Kerma have been placed at the disposal of victims’ families to provide reception, accommodation and logistical support under appropriate conditions throughout the emergency response.
The initiative is intended to ease the burden on bereaved families by offering suitable temporary housing and enabling them to remain near medical facilities and emergency services caring for survivors.
The measure forms part of the wider humanitarian response launched by the Algerian authorities following the bus accident in Boumerdes, which claimed at least 25 lives and left 44 others injured, prompting a nationwide mobilisation of emergency, medical and government resources.
In its statement, the ministry extended its condolences to the families of the victims, praying for mercy upon those who lost their lives and wishing a swift recovery to all those injured in the tragedy.
