India’s Jindal SAW Plans Major Steel Pipe Manufacturing Complex in Algeria
BY Dr. Hana Saada
ALGIERS — Indian industrial heavyweight Jindal SAW Ltd, a global leader in the production of iron and steel pipes, has expressed interest in launching a major investment project in Algeria aimed at establishing a large-scale industrial complex for the manufacture of steel pipes of various diameters and specifications.
According to the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), the project was presented during a meeting held at the agency’s headquarters between its Director General, Omar Rekkache, and a high-level delegation from the Indian group led by its President, Prithavi Raj Jindal, in the presence of India’s Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, alongside senior company executives.
The proposed industrial complex is designed to support domestic market needs while strengthening downstream industries linked to the energy sector, water resources, and infrastructure development. It is expected to contribute to local industrial capacity building and reduce reliance on imports in strategic segments.
The discussions also reviewed Algeria’s current investment climate, regulatory framework, and facilitation mechanisms, alongside incentives offered under the country’s investment law aimed at attracting large-scale foreign direct investment projects.
Jindal SAW, part of the broader Jindal Group, is considered one of the world’s leading manufacturers of steel and iron pipes, with extensive international experience in executing major industrial projects across multiple regions.
