Legislative Campaign Trail – Day 14: Parties Renew Calls for High Turnout and Development-Focused Parliament

ALGIERS – The legislative campaign ahead of the July 2 elections continued on its 14th day across Algeria, with political leaders intensifying outreach through meetings and rallies in several wilayas. Campaign discourse remained broadly aligned around calls for high voter participation, institutional strengthening, and socio-economic development.
In Sétif, the Secretary General of the National Liberation Front, Abdelkrim Benmbarek, described the upcoming legislative vote as “a democratic battle for a victorious future for Algeria,” stressing that participation represents a national responsibility and a prerequisite for institutional stability.
From Ghardaïa, the Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally, Mondher Bouden, called for strengthening youth inclusion in development programmes and further leveraging regional economic potential, particularly in tourism investment in the M’zab region.
In Khenchela, Sawt Echaâb leader Lamine Osmani urged voters to elect deputies capable of effectively representing citizens’ concerns, stressing that strong participation is essential for institutional effectiveness and development outcomes.
From Jijel, the Secretary General of the Ennahda Movement, Mohamed Dhouibi, described the elections as an important step in supporting the political process, calling for greater national cohesion and efforts to reinforce Algeria’s regional and international positioning.
In Guelma, El Karama Party President Mohamed Daoui stressed the importance of electing candidates capable of acting as a force of proposal within the National Assembly, urging citizens to participate strongly in the vote and noting that the party’s lists include competent and credible candidates.
In Djelfa, Tajamoue Amel El Djazaïr President Fatima-Zohra Zerouati highlighted her party’s focus on youth and development, with particular attention to the steppe region and its integration into national development dynamics.
In Aïn Temouchent, the President of Tajdid wa Tanmia, Assir Taïbi, called for an integrated development model across all sectors and urged broad participation to ensure the selection of effective representatives.
From Ghardaïa, the National Democratic Rally also reiterated priorities around youth employment, economic diversification, and tourism development through infrastructure investment aimed at enhancing regional attractiveness.
In Béjaïa, the President of the Rally for Culture and Democracy, Atmane Mazouz, presented a programme of 100 proposals aimed at improving living standards across multiple sectors, calling on voters to support candidates committed to parliamentary engagement and citizen advocacy.
In Laghouat, the President of the Movement of Society for Peace, Abdelali Hassani Cherif, emphasised economic, digital, and food sovereignty as pillars of national independence in decision-making and sustainable development, reaffirming that defending national interests remains a core political principle.
In Aflou, El Bina Movement Vice-President Ahmed Dane said the elections represent an important step in consolidating national gains and continuing development efforts, urging citizens to prioritise national interest and regional development.
In El Kantara, El Moustakbal Movement President Fateh Boutbig described the legislative vote as a key step in completing the institutional construction process, calling for strong voter turnout to ensure continued development and state-building efforts.
Across all parties, messaging on Day 14 converged around a central theme: encouraging high voter participation as a foundation for institutional legitimacy and continued socio-economic development. While party platforms varied in emphasis, the overall tone remained focused on governance continuity, parliamentary strengthening, and development priorities ahead of the July 2 vote.
