Moroccan Anti-Normalisation Front Renews Call for Closure of Zionist Liaison Office, Criticises Security Response to Activists
By Dr. Hana Saada
RABAT – Morocco’s Front for the Support of Palestine and Against Normalisation has renewed its call for the suspension of all forms of official and unofficial relations with the Zionist entity, urging the closure of the Zionist liaison office in Rabat and reiterating its support for the Palestinian cause amid the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement issued by its national secretariat, the organisation condemned Zionist atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank, expressing concern over civilian casualties and developments on the ground. The group also criticised Zionist settlement policies, including proposals related to urban planning and development in the occupied Palestinian city of Hebron.
The statement further addressed recent events in the northern city of Tangier, where the organisation and other activists opposed the participation of Zionist representatives in an international sailing competition hosted by the city. The Front described the protests as part of its broader campaign against normalisation initiatives and criticised the detention of several activists during the demonstrations.
According to the organisation, those detained were later released. The Front argued that security measures taken against protesters reflected a restrictive approach toward anti-normalisation activism, while maintaining that public opposition to normalisation remains significant within segments of Moroccan society.
Beyond domestic developments, the organisation commented on wider regional issues, including ongoing tensions involving Iran, Lebanon, the Zionist entity, and the United States. It expressed support for resistance movements in the region and criticised U.S. policy in relation to the conflict.
The Front also voiced solidarity with Moroccan human rights activist Aziz Ghali, president of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, condemning pressure and restrictions targeting civil society figures engaged in advocacy related to Palestinian rights.
