Algeria and Lebanese Diaspora Representatives Explore New Avenues for Economic Cooperation and African Market Expansion

ALGIERS – Algeria is exploring new opportunities to expand its commercial presence in African markets through enhanced cooperation with Lebanese business networks abroad, following talks held on Wednesday between Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig and a delegation from the World Lebanese Cultural Union.
The delegation was led by Secretary-General Mohamed Raslan and met with senior officials from the ministry to discuss prospects for strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Algerian businesses and members of the Lebanese diaspora operating across international markets, particularly in Africa.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, the discussions focused on identifying practical mechanisms to support the expansion of Algerian exports and facilitate greater access for national products to emerging markets across the continent.
A central theme of the meeting was the possibility of establishing commercial liaison offices in several African countries. Such structures would be designed to support Algerian economic operators, facilitate market entry, and enhance the visibility and distribution of Algerian-made products in strategically important export destinations.
Officials also examined ways to leverage the extensive business networks of the Lebanese diaspora to promote trade, investment, and commercial partnerships capable of supporting Algeria’s export diversification strategy.
The talks further addressed opportunities for developing partnerships between Algerian companies and Lebanese entrepreneurs and business leaders operating internationally. Participants highlighted the potential benefits of closer collaboration in areas such as knowledge exchange, technology transfer, expertise sharing, and the development of joint value-added investment projects.
The meeting reflects Algeria’s broader efforts to strengthen its export-oriented economic diplomacy, diversify non-hydrocarbon revenues, and expand the international reach of domestic producers through strategic partnerships with established business networks across Africa and other global markets.
For both sides, the discussions underscored the growing importance of diaspora-driven economic cooperation as a tool for facilitating trade, attracting investment, and creating new channels for commercial engagement in rapidly expanding markets.
