Condor Signs Export Agreement to Expand Presence in Rwanda and Tanzania

By Dr. Hana Saada

ALGIERS – Algerian electronics and home appliances manufacturer Condor has signed an export agreement with partners in Rwanda and Tanzania to supply a range of locally manufactured electronic and household products to the two East African markets, in a move aimed at strengthening Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon exports and expanding its commercial footprint across the continent.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday at the Exhibition Palace (SAFEX) in Algiers during the 57th edition of the Algiers International Fair (FIA), under the supervision of Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

The deal forms part of Algeria’s broader strategy to increase the presence of domestically manufactured products in African markets and to capitalise on opportunities created by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which seeks to facilitate intra-African trade and economic integration.

Under the agreement, Condor will export a range of electronic and household appliances to Rwanda and Tanzania while implementing accompanying support measures designed to strengthen the long-term sustainability of its operations in both markets.

A key component of the partnership includes the training of specialised technicians in after-sales services, maintenance, and repair through programmes conducted at the Condor Academy. The initiative is intended to ensure the availability of qualified technical support in the target markets, enhance customer satisfaction, and strengthen consumer confidence in Algerian-made products.

Speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Rezig described the agreement as a further indication of the growing presence of Algerian products across African markets.

He said such initiatives reflect the momentum currently driving Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon export sector and demonstrate the ability of Algerian companies to compete internationally and establish sustainable positions in foreign markets.

The agreement highlights Algeria’s efforts to diversify its export base, reduce reliance on hydrocarbon revenues, and encourage national manufacturers to expand into new regional markets through investment, industrial partnerships, and trade integration mechanisms provided under the AfCFTA framework.

The deal also underscores Condor’s broader ambition to strengthen its position as a regional industrial exporter while contributing to Algeria’s strategy of promoting value-added manufacturing and increasing the competitiveness of national products on the African continent.
