Morocco’s Early Childhood Sector Mobilises for Nationwide Strike Amid Escalating Social and Professional Demands
By Dr. Hana Saada
Rabat — Morocco’s early childhood education sector is entering a phase of organised mobilisation, as the National Coordination Body for Kindergarten Educators in Morocco, in coordination with several national trade union structures including FNE, UNMT, and CDT, has called for a nationwide general strike scheduled for April 7 and 8, 2026.
This coordinated action reflects mounting discontent within the sector, with organisers citing persistent social and professional grievances affecting kindergarten educators and associated personnel. The mobilisation is intended to bring renewed attention to longstanding concerns related to working conditions, professional recognition, and institutional support mechanisms.
As part of the protest agenda, a sit-in has been announced in front of the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat on April 7 at approximately 11:00 a.m., signalling an escalation from sectoral protest to visible public demonstration at the national level.
The initiative underscores a broader dynamic of labour organisation within Morocco’s education landscape, where multiple union actors have converged to amplify collective demands. The involvement of major trade union bodies reflects an attempt to consolidate representation and strengthen negotiating leverage vis-à-vis public authorities.
