Algerian authorities have mobilised 53,771 traders nationwide as part of a special duty system to ensure the continuous supply of essential goods and services during Eid al-Adha, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation said on Saturday.

The measure is implemented under Article 8 of Law 13-06 governing commercial activity, aimed at guaranteeing continuity of public service during religious and national holidays.

Under the scheme, 2,684 inspection officers have been deployed to monitor compliance with the duty roster across all provinces, the ministry said.

The mobilised traders include 6,602 bakeries, 28,663 operators in general foodstuffs and fresh produce, and 17,905 traders across other commercial activities, alongside 541 production units, including dairies, mills and bottled water facilities.

The ministry said the system is designed to prevent supply disruptions and ensure the availability of basic commodities throughout the holiday period, while strengthening field monitoring mechanisms and enforcement.

Citizens can consult the list of duty traders and submit complaints via the “MORAFIK COM” mobile application for rapid intervention and corrective measures.

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to stabilise supply chains and protect consumers during peak demand periods linked to religious and public holidays.
