South-West Eliminatories Of National Patriotic Song Festival Launched In Timimoun

The South-West regional eliminatories of the National Patriotic Song Festival officially kicked off on Friday evening at the open-air theatre of Timimoun, bringing together artistic troupes from Béchar, Adrar, In Salah, El Bayadh, Béni Abbès and Timimoun.
The cultural event forms part of national efforts to strengthen youth engagement, encourage creative expression and promote civic values and patriotism through artistic performance, according to the Directorate of Youth and Sports of Timimoun.
Organised under the patronage of the Minister of Youth, responsible for the High Council for Youth, and supervised by the Governor of Timimoun, the festival positions patriotic song as a formative cultural tool aimed at reinforcing citizenship, fostering national attachment and nurturing creative talent among young participants.
Audiences in the Gourara region responded enthusiastically to performances delivered by participating groups, reflecting strong local engagement with the musical and thematic content of the competition. The event will conclude with awards presented to the top three troupes, which will qualify for the national final scheduled for November in Béjaïa.
In parallel with the competition, participants were taken on a guided tour of local heritage sites, including the Ighzer cave, a traditional foggara system in Ouled Said, and the Tinerkouk area, highlighting the region’s cultural and ecological richness.
