President Tebboune Ends Salima Mesrati’s Tenure, Appoints Acting Head of Algeria’s Anti-Corruption Authority
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has relieved Salima Mesrati of her duties as President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating Corruption, assigning her to another position while appointing Mohamed Djellaoui as the body’s acting president.

ALGIERS, Algeria — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has officially ended the tenure of Salima Mesrati as President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating Corruption, according to two presidential decrees published in the latest edition of Algeria’s Official Gazette.
The decrees, published in Official Gazette No. 53 and dated July 21, 2026, formalize Mesrati’s departure from the leadership of the independent anti-corruption authority.
Under the first presidential decree, President Tebboune relieved Mesrati of her duties while assigning her to another position.
The presidential text states that the decision to end her tenure was taken in connection with her appointment to another official function.
In a separate decree published in the same edition of the Official Gazette, Mohamed Djellaoui was appointed Acting President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating Corruption, effective immediately.
