APN Holds Coordination Meeting to Allocate Deputy Speaker Positions
Parliamentary groups meeting the legal threshold convened under the chairmanship of APN President Khalida Boufedeche to agree on the distribution of deputy speaker posts in accordance with proportional representation and the Assembly’s internal rules.

ALGIERS, Algeria — Algeria’s People’s National Assembly (APN) held a coordination meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of APN President Khalida Boufedeche, as parliamentary groups advanced the institutional organization of the newly inaugurated 10th legislature.
According to a statement issued by the Assembly, the meeting brought together representatives of parliamentary groups that meet the statutory requirements for the formation of official parliamentary blocs.
Discussions focused on the allocation of the Assembly’s deputy speaker positions among the parliamentary groups, based on the principle of original proportional representation.
The process forms part of the implementation of Articles 12 and 13 of the APN’s Internal Rules of Procedure, which govern the distribution of leadership positions within the lower house of Parliament.
The meeting represents another procedural step in completing the institutional structure of the new legislature following the election of Khalida Boufedeche as the first woman to serve as President of the People’s National Assembly since Algeria’s independence.
