President Tebboune Mourns Senator Abdelhak Ben Boulaid, Son of Independence Hero Colonel Mustapha Ben Boulaïd
The death of Senator Abdelhak Ben Boulaid, son of one of Algeria’s most revered revolutionary leaders, prompted condolences from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and senior state officials, who paid tribute to his public service and his family’s enduring contribution to the country’s struggle for independence.

ALGIERS — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday extended his condolences following the death of Senator Abdelhak Ben Boulaid, a member of the Council of the Nation and the son of one of Algeria’s foremost independence heroes, Colonel Mustapha Ben Boulaïd.
In a message of condolence, President Tebboune paid tribute to the late senator’s commitment to public service, describing him as a man who faithfully upheld the legacy of his father while serving the nation through his parliamentary responsibilities.
“The late Abdelhak Ben Boulaid carried with honor the noble heritage of his lineage, preserved the dignity of his national belonging, and fulfilled with sincere patriotism his parliamentary duties as a presidentially appointed member of the Council of the Nation,” the president said.
Tebboune expressed his profound sorrow at the news of the senator’s passing, offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and relatives while praying that Almighty Allah grant the deceased His infinite mercy, admit him into Paradise, and bestow patience and strength upon his loved ones.
Abdelhak Ben Boulaid died on Saturday morning after a prolonged illness, according to official sources.
His death also prompted condolences from Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders Abdelmalek Tacherif, who expressed solidarity with the family and described the loss as one that also affects Algeria’s wider revolutionary family.
The minister recalled the late senator’s national commitment, highlighting that Abdelhak Ben Boulaid had followed the path of public service inspired by the revolutionary struggle led by his father, Colonel Mustapha Ben Boulaïd, one of the six historic leaders who launched Algeria’s War of Independence in 1954 and a central figure in the Aurès resistance against French colonial rule.
Abdelhak Ben Boulaid served as a member of the Council of the Nation under the presidential quota, where he contributed to legislative work while preserving the historical legacy of one of Algeria’s founding fathers of independence.
