US–Algeria Workshop Focuses on Oilseed Processing and Animal Feed Production to Strengthen Food Security Cooperation

The United States Embassy in Algiers has hosted Algerian representatives from the agriculture and industrial sectors in a workshop dedicated to optimizing oilseed processing and animal feed production, according to an embassy statement.
The event was jointly organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), and the University of Missouri, and brought together experts from both countries to enhance knowledge sharing, foster innovation, and strengthen cooperation in soybean utilisation and livestock feed manufacturing.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Mark Schapiro highlighted the role of American soybeans in supporting Algeria’s food security objectives, stressing their quality, consistency, and sustainable production methods. He noted that the sector also contributes to the development of poultry and livestock industries while encouraging investment in local processing infrastructure.
Over the course of the workshop, participants engaged in technical exchanges aimed at sharing best practices and identifying opportunities to strengthen Algeria’s capacities in oilseed transformation and feed production.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by Algeria and the United States to deepen long-standing agricultural cooperation, with a focus on improving productivity, reinforcing food security, and supporting broader economic development.
