Algeria, Argentina Explore Expanded Nuclear Medicine Cooperation as Energy Minister Meets INVAP CEO
Energy Minister Mourad Adjal discussed expanding Algeria’s cooperation with Argentina’s INVAP in nuclear medicine, including the localisation of radioisotope production and the acceleration of work on the Draria radioisotope production facility.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, met on Sunday with Dario Guissi, Chief Executive Officer of Argentina’s INVAP, to review ongoing cooperation in nuclear medicine and explore new opportunities to expand the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
According to a ministry statement, INVAP specialises in advanced technologies for the design and manufacture of equipment serving the nuclear energy, medical applications and alternative energy sectors.
During the meeting, Adjal reaffirmed the strong relations between Algeria and Argentina in the fields of energy and renewable energies, highlighting the four-decade partnership between INVAP and Algeria’s Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA). He noted that the cooperation has produced significant progress, particularly in nuclear infrastructure projects dedicated to medical applications.
Discussions focused on the Draria radioisotope production facility, a strategic project designed to manufacture radioisotopes used as tracers in medical imaging and in radiotherapy for the targeted treatment of cancer.
The minister also called for broadening bilateral cooperation by enabling COMENA to benefit from Argentina’s expertise in radioisotope production, with the objective of localising the manufacture of these materials in Algeria in the future.
As part of the ongoing monitoring of the Draria project, Adjal stressed the need to accelerate construction work, adhere to the agreed implementation schedule and establish regular project oversight to ensure timely completion.
For his part, Dario Guissi praised the success of Algerian-Argentine cooperation in the sector and welcomed the minister’s proposals to deepen future collaboration, particularly in the field of radioisotope production.
