APN Speaker Boughali Welcomes Election of Anda Filip as IPU Secretary-General

Algeria’s People’s National Assembly (APN) Speaker Ibrahim Boughali has congratulated Anda Filip on her election as Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), following a vote by an absolute majority of parliamentarians worldwide.
In a message issued on Sunday, Boughali extended his best wishes for success in her new mandate, expressing hope that it would strengthen international parliamentary cooperation and advance shared global priorities. Filip becomes the first woman to assume the post.
The announcement came as Boughali took part in the 217th session of the IPU Governing Council in Turkey, where he participated in the election process for the new Secretary-General.
He also continued his engagements during the final day of the 152nd IPU Assembly held in Istanbul.
