APOCE Warns Against Unregulated “Miracle” Weight-Control Products

The Algerian Association for Consumer Protection and Guidance (APOCE) has issued a warning over the unregulated marketing of weight-control products, cautioning against items presented as rapid and effective solutions.
The organisation said such products are often promoted as “miracle” remedies but in reality consist of “unknown mixtures with unpredictable and potentially dangerous consequences for health”.
APOCE urged consumers to exercise caution, warning against being influenced by advertising claims. “Do not be swayed by promotional messages. Your health comes first. Consulting a healthcare professional is not an option, but a necessity,” it said.
The alert comes as seasonal pressures around body image typically intensify ahead of summer, particularly among young people, amid growing demand for quick weight loss or gain solutions aligned with prevailing beauty standards.
